Simon Says Stamp: Abstract Triangles 101638
Recollections: cork tape
This abstract triangles stamp was one of the Stamptember offerings on the Simon Says Stamp website this month and I fell in love with it immediately. I can see lots of uses for it and numerous ways to color within the triangles. On this occasion I puddled up fall colored distress inks, spritzed them water, then plopped the cardstock onto them carefully. Heat set, replop as desired. Using the markers I made some of the triangles more intense or changed their color entirely creating a new color.

I wish it was fall all year long
because it's my favorite season of the year! I love the color palette, the sights, sounds and smells of leaves, pumpkins, ghosts, baled hay, caramel apples, hayrack rides, cornstalks...the list goes on.
Here's my rendition of Tim's September tag...a creative remix of techniques from April 2013 and September 2014.
While I thought the black version was cool and rather looked like a negative, I knew I wanted to try a brighter color palette and Anita Houston's tags gave me the courage to try non-black.
Ranger: archival ink (ground espresso, sienna, monarch orange); alcohol ink (rust, terra cotta); blending solution; Yupo paper; textured surfaces-burlap; #8 manila tag; distress watercolor cardstock; distress paints (antiqued bronze, tarnished brass, candied apple, fossilized amber, chipped sapphire, forest moss, carved pumpkin); distress markers (peeled paint, wild honey, fossilized amber, carved pumpkin, candied apple, rusty hinge); multi medium-matte
Stampers Anonymous mini layering stencils: 012, 065; Falling Leaves CMS097
Sizzix: fall foliage thinlits dies
Idea-ology: alpha parts; paper string; rub-ons; mini staples
For those who like the larger images....hope this one is easier for you to see! The smaller size is often required when linking to someone else's blog.

Always & forever
Happy 61st anniversary to dear friends!
On the inside I used a stamp that said 'getting married means sharing your toys'. While I don't feel rakes can be considered toys I did feel that it conveyed a humorous message to these non-newlyweds who don't do yardwork.
I love the new leaf stencil from Tim! Over it I placed drywall tape then smudged in distress inks (Shabby Shutters, Wild Honey, Ripe Persimmon). This was done twice to cover the card. I replaced the stencil and smeared Texture Paste - Transparent Gloss over the stencil, again repeating to cover the card. Let dry.
Tumbled Glass and Broken China distress stains were spread on my non-stick craft sheet and spritzed with water before I dragged the card front through the stain.
The sentiment was stamped in Coffee Archival Ink onto vellum and covered with Ancient Gold embossing powder. Carefully heat set so the vellum doesn't brown/burn! Ranger's Collage Glue Stick does a good job on vellum - can't see it at all!
The rakes and leaves were punched from brown card stock scraps. Multi Medium (matte) was used to adhere them.
Ranger: Collage Glue Stick, distress stains (Tumbled Glass, Broken China), distress inks (Shabby Shutters, Wild Honey, Ripe Persimmon), Texture Paste (Transparent Gloss), Ancient Gold/Tarnished Gold embossing powder

RAKs
I'm behind in returning RAKs so I thought I'd play with some of my older toys and see how creative I could be using newer coloring mediums.
The top layer is mixed media cardstock because I wasn't sure what coloring agents I would be using. I ran the top one through the Cuttlebug/ProvoCraft 'Friends Forever' embossing folder and colored it with distress markers (Twisted Citron, Fossilized Amber and Old Paper) and a water brush.
In the bottom one I painted the embossing folder with Ranger's Pearl Paint before running the cardstock through the embossing folder. Immediately wash your embossing folder unless you want it pearlized forever! Using the mini ink pads in the same colors I rubbed them over the raised and not raised areas then wiped a slightly damp towel across the card front. The paint acts as a resist; mine was probably too dry to really act as a resist but it did give a neat look (IMHO) in real life.
Two looks using the same colors but different mediums. Fun!

Roadtrip
A dear friend recently had knee replacement surgery. He's a long-haul truck driver so this card is quite appropriate (theme-wise) for him. Inside I wished him a road to recovery that encountered no speed bumps.
