July

July...a time for showing off the red, white and blue.  Roni chose a patriotic theme for calendar page...I couldn't get my images to show off as well as hers so I dry-brushed white paint over the dry gesso to show off more of the texture.

Altered playing cards - completion of the deck of cards

Can't believe the deck of cards has now been completely altered!  Well, except for the jokers.  Plans for those are on hold for the moment.  Claudine chose to focus on embossing...I used clear Wendy Vecchi's new Sky Blue powder (over Sky Blue archival ink) on top and Ranger's Clear (over Watering Can archival ink) on the bottom.  I like both effects.

Studio 490 stamps:  LCS071 Art For Men, LCS075 Call It Art and SCS032 Fashion Style and Art

Ranger:  archival inks (Jet Black, Watering Can, Sky Blue, Buttercup); embossing powders (Clear, Sky Blue)

Black oil pastel crayon, punches (circles, star), page from an old book

There's a grand prize drawing so check out the rules and make sure you're entered!  A super stash is at stake!

Thank you, Claudine, for being such a great, inspirational hostess and to all those who participated and shared their ideas!  It's been a fun challenge!

Home and the simple life

Oh, how I wish!  It's been a rough week...3 deaths in my family/friends circle, 1 diagnosis of dementia, another of cancer.  Our gas fireplace is on the fritz, one sump pump has died.  But I did get a new kitchen faucet...no more dripping!  And the Irish Soda Bread I made this morning tastes yummy!

It's the 25th week of the Altered Playing Card challenge...can't believe we've nearly finished one deck of playing cards!

Bird Crazy

Love this new stamp set from Tim Holtz!  I thought he'd be great on my version of Tim's March tag for this year.
Ranger:  Distress paint (Mustard Seed, Abandoned Coral, Cracked Pistachio, Barn Door, Dusty Concord); Embossing powder (Pale Gold, Clear, Antiquities Tanzanite, Antiquities Quartz); Jet Black Archival Ink; Texture Paste; Inkssentials White Pen; Multi-Medium

Stampers Anonymous: Bird Crazy CMS212; Flourish stencil THS032

Idea-ology:  Tissue tape, mask sheet, Adage ticket, foliage, adornments, jump ring, fragment, rub-ons, gem clip, crinkle ribbon

LOVE the new January and February colors....can't wait to get March!

Note:  I unbent the gem clip enough so I could slide on the foliage pieces that had been painted with distress paint.  Then I bent it back into shape but left the gem facing forward instead of upwards.  Makes a nice flower, don't you agree?!?!?!?

Happy Anniversary!

Thought this would make a cute anniversary card for my mom and step-dad.  The Penny Black image was stamped in Jet Black archival ink on watercolor paper then colored with distress markers that had been scribbled on my craft sheet.  The turquoise layer and green card base are Bazzill.
